About the Artist

Janine is a visual artist based in the Yarra Valley, regional Victoria. Her art is informed by her travels and influenced by artists, Claire Guiral, Paul Gauguin, and Gustav Klimt, evident in the rich colour palette, textures, patterns and translucent layers. Janine Trail has worked with media ranging from pastel, oil and print making, to digital illustration and furniture painting. She studied painting under the instruction of David Moore, exhibited and sold her work in Melbourne ... and in the meantime, completed a children’s fantasy book. Presently living on the road with her husband Shane Trail, a sketch pad and lots of ideas. ‘A painter is a channel, a conduit; all I do is turn up, what emerges is from somewhere else, paintings live & breathe & hold their own, their messages are not mine to give you, they’re for you to receive.’
